You work in your company’s information technology department. One of your key responsibilities is to track usage of the company’s internet access and to validate that employees are using the internet solely for business purposes in compliance with company policy. During one of your routine analyses, you notice that one of your coworkers, Nancy, has been accessing a career finder website. You have been instructed to report any and all violations to your immediate supervisor. Historically, similar violations have led to discipline and in most cases, termination. While you don’t know Nancy very well, you do know that she is a single mother of three young children who husband died over a year ago.
How do you handle this issue?
