coming to work with cancer
Kevin, one of your employees, has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Despite having access to a disability plan benefit, Kevin has chosen not to apply for this benefit but to continue to come to work every day. For Kevin, having the work routine is meaningful and motivates him to get out of bed every day. Kevin continues to come to work as he undergoes treatment. After three months, a group of Kevin’s co-workers comes to you and says that they like Kevin as a person, but he clearly is not doing his work. The co- workers are tired of covering for Kevin and they don’t think the situation is fair.
